With some of Victoria's most spectacular coastal scenery as its backdrop, the event will see the first stage hosted by the Greater City of Geelong on January 1. The race then travels to the beautiful township of Portarlington on January 2 and finishes with the traditional Williamstown circuit on January 3.

Race director, John Trevorrow said "Spectators can expect a fantastic event which has become infamous amongst the cycling community as the lead into the 'Summer of Cycling'."

SBS will stream the #baycrits LIVE on Facebook via the Cycling Central account.

Two-time national criterium champion, Steele von Hoff said at the launch "I can't wait to mix it with the internationals and ride with my mates. We're all friends until we pin the race numbers on and then it's take no prisoners," he said.

Junior World Madison Champion, Ruby Roseman-Gannon is riding in her second MBCC, after completing her VCE last week.

"It's amazing because you're riding with your idols, you're riding with people who are racing where you want to be. It's a pretty incredible experience to ride and look over your shoulder and see Gracie Elvin or one of the GreenEDGE girls next to you," Roseman-Gannon said.

Naming rights sponsor, Mitchelton Wines Managing Director, Andrew Ryan said "We're proud to be associated with the event, which sets the tempo for what promises to be a great summer of cycling".

Holidays crowds are expected to flock to the thee-day event, with local superstars like Caleb Ewan and Chloe Hosking chasing another title and three-time Olympic gold medallist, Ed Clancy (UK) heading the international raiders.
