Sport Australia Media Awards have announced SBS Sport as a 2020 finalist for their Tour de France coverage.

SBS Sport is nominated in the category 'Best coverage of a sporting event', and the other nominees are The Sydney Morning Herald/The Age (ICC Women's T20 World Cup), The Sydney Morning Herald (Best Games Ever), Fox Sports Australia (Boxing Day Test), and Optus Sport (UEFA Champions League).

There were over 330 entries for the 2020 Awards, with Sport Australia saying they were "once again showcasing the high calibre of talent and story-telling across the Australian sports media after a year like none we have experienced before".

The Sport Australia Media Awards have been running since 2002 and recognise excellence in Australian sports journalism, broadcasting, production and photography.

It's been a very good year for Australians racing around the world, with expected stars performing as billed, but with some big surprises in there as well!

Further details on the awards format will be given early next year with the winners announced in February 2021.

“In a year like no other in Australian sport, the quality of story-telling took another leap making this year’s awards among the most competitive we’ve seen in the 19 years of the event."
