Over the course of the past week Australia's Mark Renshaw has delivered Mark Cavendish to four stage victories at the Tour of California.

The final stage of the race was a fiercely contested fight between Etixx-Quick-Step and Tinkoff-Saxo. While Cavendish rode away with the stage win his Etixx-Quick-Step team-mate Julian Allaphilippe lost the overall title after Peter Sagan finished third to collect enough bonus seconds to seal the victory.

Cycling Central's Nick Vindin spoke to Renshaw after the race to talk about the final battle and what's ahead for the Renshaw Rocket and Manx Missile.

Bradley Wiggins is set to tackle the UCI Hour Record on Sunday 7 June but another record has slipped through his fingers.

Wiggins failed in his attempt to break Alex Dowsett's British 10-mile record on Saturday.

Dowsett, who also boasts the current UCI Hour Record, holds the record for the fastest time held on a 16km stretch of the A63 motorway.

Wiggins, the current time trial world champion, recorded a time of 15min 58sec which was 38 seconds slower than Dowsett's record.

Australian and New Zealand riders have dominated the opening stage of the Tour of Japan.

Drapac's Brenton Jones won the 2.65km prologue in a time of 3min 19sec. He was joined on the podium by Avanti Racing's Neil van der Ploeg and Tom Davison.

Australia's Adam Phelan (Drapac) finished fourth while Kiwi Avanti team-mates Taylor Gunman and Jason Christie were seventh and ninth.

@marcelkittel: I finished a weekend with long training rides at home & thought it's art if I throw my bike in one of many rapefields. #giant #ridelikeking #vangogh

@georgebennett: Me and Dan Martin ventured #ballsdeep into the mountains, epic ride on untouched goat paths, after about 47 punctures we finally called for help, I left dan in some village that I hope appears on a map so someone can find him. Bocadillo break for me on the way to 6 hrs.
