We're fashioning a ribbon made of French fries and pinning it to our bibs to celebrate #NationalBurgerDay on May 28. Here are 7½ burgers that taste good even without a hangover.

1. Cemita milanesa (Mexican pork schnitzel burgers)

This is a glorified schnitzel burger, with pickled onions, avocado and jalapeños. We'll eat this famous street snack from Puebla over a burrito any day.

2. Pakistani bun kabab

This Pakistani street snack (from Feast magazine) takes the innings: the ginger and chilli spiked, minced lamb and lentil patty cooked in ghee is a winner.

3. Pork belly, tofu and Sriracha slaw burgers with Sichuan onion rings

This may be a knife-and-fork burger (from Feast), but it's what David Chang's wet dreams are made of.

4. Vietnamese pulled pork sliders with Asian slaw

These pulled pork sliders from the food dept. make for a convincing argument to invest in a slow cooker; put it to work to make fork-tender meat while you sleep.

4. Shane Delia's falafel burger

Looking for a burger that fits in your mouth without mess? Binge on these mini chickpea, cumin and coriander patties.

5. Bulgogi sliders

What's the secret to these K-town creations? Kiwifruit is used to tenderise the beef. Yes, kiwifruit! (Thanks Feast.)

6. Dan Hong's signature cheese

Hong hack: This recipe may yield a few more patties than you need. That's probably not such a bad thing. To make this recipe properly, you will need a mincer attachment for your food processor. If you don't have one, you can ask your butcher to help you out.

7. Cherry sorbet on brioche rolls

Double down on burgers and eat one for dessert, just like our genius friends at the food dept
