Eaten either fresh or dried, dates are a rich, sweet and easy win. They're a delightful way to break fast during Ramadan or to cap off an evening meal. Save the date this Ramadan with these nine winners.

There really is something so satisfying about dates and often when breaking fast, a simple date will do the trick. But if you wanted to get a little creative with your dates this Ramadan, then these recipes are great. You can make these ahead, they serve plenty and they are easily stored, so when the sunsets and it is time to eat, you can easily feed a crowd.

These are also great date ideas even if you don't partake in Ramadan and are looking to take your date to the next level.

1. Hazelnut, date and golden syrup pudding

Matthew Evans uses this trio to give us a rich pudding- think crunchy, sweet and bright!

2. Hemp tahini date-caramel bars

Vegan-friendly and gluten-free, there's something magical about dates and tahini in this sticky sweet union! 

3. Savoury cheese board loaf

You'll be wanting to serve up this date and nut loaf with cheese, pickles, dip, almost anything - it's that more-ish.

4. Sticky date cookies

5. Date cake

This Iranian-inspired cake is worth all the nurturing that goes into it. This recipe calls for a little spice from cinnamon and cardamom, plus it is all topped off with a pop of Persian fairy floss for that fun factor.

6. Baked ricotta, orange blossom and date pie

If you love a baked cheesecake, then this is one recipe you have to pop on your baking radar. 

7. Salted caramel chocolate bars 

The crust, the caramel (which is where those dates shine) and of course the chocolate layer, stack up nicely in this supreme no-bake slice.

8. Date-and-sesame balls

This recipe is a quick and easy way to incorporate dates, nuts and seeds into lots of bite-size treats. The quantities are up to you and you can make as much and as little as you like, go for gold! 


9. Ma'amoul

Take your date to the next level by piping a little ricotta, mascarpone and cream in the centre. Then if you are feeling a little nutty, you can pop some almonds on top!
