The vibrant, intensely colourful world of Indian food found an ever-increasing fan base in Australia after Australians began to travel through India during the 1960s and '70s. Today, thanks also to increased immigration, Indian food is found all across Australia and we have a growing appreciation for its many regional variations.

Hindi is one of India's native languages and is most commonly spoken in the nation's north and central districts. Each region has its own style of cooking and distinct flavours. In the north, tandoori and korma are popular dishes, while cuisine in central India is a blend of flavours, spices and cooking methods from around the country.
