Life on the goldfields Virtual Exhibition

Paintings, diary entries, poems and sketches from the State Library's rich collection tell the story of life on the gold fields. The site covers personal accounts of the journey to the diggings, life under canvas, making new "chums" and entertainment on the goldfields, as well as mining techniques and the impact on the land.

Their web site contains a variety of activities and information for schools and students, ranging from research notes and historical photographs to classroom activities and a global classroom project.

Gold Treasury Museum
Built on Gold Education Resources Database

An online resource of content compiled for the Built on Gold exhibition at the Gold Treasury Museum. The exhibition plots the journey of Victorian gold, from the diggings, as it passed through the hands of the gold buyers, escort troopers and on some occasions, bushrangers until it eventually left the colony bound for the northern hemisphere.

The Gippsland Gold 150 Website
A celebration of 150 years since the discovery of gold in Gippsland. This site includes history and current information about the gold fields in the area plus a listing of upcoming events and gold field discovery trails.

Gold 150: Celebrating 150 Years of Australian Gold Rush History
A collaborative project by the Australian National Maritime Museum, Sovereign Hill and the University of Ballarat. The site includes an extensive collection of paintings, clipper cards and lithographs plus articles on the the history of the Australian gold rush.
