The “rehearsal” coming out scene in Please Like Me

With boyfriend Arnold incredibly anxious about coming out to his parents, Josh decides to orchestrate a rehearsal of how it will go, casting his own dad in the role of “Arnold’s dad, learning tolerance”.

Josh urges Arnold to use the power of song to express himself, and so he does via Sia’s 'Chandelier' – and it does see to have a pretty profound effect.

So, it was only his rehearsal coming out but it gave us all the feels. Clearly the little Aussie show has had an emotional effect on some international stars too:

THAT Jon Snow scene

That final shot of Jon lying in the snow as blood pooled seems pretty caused many a Game of Thrones fan’s heart to swell.

Ah, but is it really the end? Nobody seems to know…

There are many conspiracy theories out there that say otherwise. We’ll just have to wait for season six to find out…

The Bachelorette finale

So there was an infamous major spoiler of this final episode in Sam Frost’s search for love via some paparazzi pics that appeared to give away the winner. Fans were not too happy.

That didn’t stop a record number of Australian viewers tuning in though, and inevitably choking up as Sam finally declared her love for Sasha:

When Leslie and Ron made up in Parks & Recreation

2015 saw the final episode of Parks & Rec go to air. It was certainly an emotional moment - but probably the most gut-wrenching part of season seven was at the start, when the universe was turned UPSIDE DOWN as it appeared Leslie Knope and Ron Swanson’s friendship had come to an end.

Thankfully, come episode four, they patched things up and it was an extremely touching moment… with fart noises.

When Caitlyn Jenner publicly revealed she is a woman

It seemed like most of the United States and a good portion of Australia were waiting with bated breath for what was promised to be a major revelation from Jenner during this TV special – and she didn’t disappoint. I mean, who didn’t get choked up?

Now of course, she’s back dominating the airwaves in her own reality show to rival the Kardashians’, I Am Cait.

Raylan and Boyd’s bittersweet moment

Justified’s Raylan and Boyd might have had a rather adversarial history together, but this gut-wrenching final scene appeared to show that the pair had finally come full circle.

When Jon Stewart left The Daily Show

As if it wasn’t going to be emotional enough already, Stephen Colbert had to show up out of the blue and give a speech that got Jon (and us) all choked up!

“We learned from you, by example… You are infuriatingly good at your job… All of us who were lucky enough to work with you for 16  years… are better people for having known you.”

When Carrie’s tears said what we all felt on The Project

It’s noted often that Gold Logie winning presenter Carrie Bickmore lets her emotion get the better of her. When her voice cracked live on air earlier this year though she was saying what we all felt.

The panel had just viewed the now-infamous and heartbreaking images of the lifeless body of a two year old Syrian boy washed up on the beach on the coast of Turkey after his asylum seeking family’s boat had sunk just off the coast.

“It just makes me think how lucky I am that I live in Australia – that my children live in Australia,” the mother-of-two said.
