Holiday (2014, Ecuador)
Juan Pablo, 16, travels to the remote family hacienda in the Andes, where his uncle, involved in a corruption scandal, has taken refuge with his wife and teenage children. It is the carnival holiday of 1999, days before the collapse of Ecuador’s banking system. There, Juan Pablo meets Juano, an enigmatic, self-assured black-metal fan from the nearby pueblo, who opens his eyes to a new, liberating universe. As his country and family heads for the abyss, the boys’ budding friendship develops into a fragile romance, and Juan Pablo is forced to define himself against his chaotic surroundings.

The Greek Submission for the 2016 Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, Xenia follows two young brothers in search of their birth father across the colourful landscape of Greece. After the death of their mother, sixteen-year-old Dany leaves Crete to join his older brother, Odysseas, who lives in Athens. Born from an Albanian mother and a Greek father they never met, the two brothers, strangers in their own country, decide to go to Thessaloniki to look for their father and force him to officially recognise them. At the same time in Thessaloniki, is held the selection for the cult show, "Greek Star." Dany dreams that his brother Odysseas, a gifted singer, could become the new star of the contest, in a country that refuses to accept them.
