If one thing was gleaned from the National Republican Convention, it’s that while the party remains divided, millions of "we want Trump"-chanting Americans are still fawning over its umpa-lumpa coloured nominee.

To determine why, Samantha Bee takes her very own campaign bus deep into the Republican heartland to encounter some average Donald Trump voters in a Full Frontal special. What she finds is both hilarious and chilling.

One lady, who refers to herself as a ‘Trump-ette’ tells Bee, “He’s talking to the teenager in all of us which is really awesome because hey, guess what government, we’re really mad at you and we’d really like a change, that would be super awesome if you could do it our way.”

“So what we need is like a teenage tantrum president?” Bee replies bemused.

Finding her own question to ask and answer, the woman enthusiastically continues, “Think back to when you were a teenager, all those adults walking around being hypocrites, that sucks right? Totally!”

Elsewhere Bee’s fellow reporter meets a young man who doesn’t seem to understand the concept of sexism.

“I don’t see it being a smart idea to put a woman in office. I mean, I’m not sexist or anything…” he reasons about Hillary Clinton.

Surprisingly, his girlfriend agrees, and says, “We don’t need a woman as a president, we’re too dramatic!” before proceeding to reveal she’s regularly the victim of sexism in the workplace, but you know, that's life.

Watch Full Frontal with Samantha Bee Tuesdays at 8pm (AEST) on SBS 2. All episodes are available earlier that day on SBS On Demand.
