Now that both the Democratic and Republican conventions have wrapped up, The Simpsons are weighing in on who they want to be the next president of the United States. And it isn’t Trump.

In their two minute video, the long-running Fox series launches a blistering attack on the former reality star.

The clip starts with Homer and Marge in bed watching a presidential campaign ad that asks, “It's 3 a.m. and the phone's ringing in the White House. Who do you want answering that call?”

It flashes to the Clintons who get woken by the call before switching to a pallid and night-cap wearing Trump who’s busy late night Tweeting next to a copy of Hitler’s great speeches.

Of course he’s too engrossed in slagging off a Democratic senator on social media to answer when the ‘situation room’ calls, and he instead barks to an assistant, “Put my name on the Lincoln Memorial, make Chris Christie eat a worm just for laughs, disband NATO and make me some scrambled eggs on a gold plate”.

A peek at his phone shows the Republican nominee has his daughter Ivanka, Michelle Obama’s speech writer and Russian president Vladimir Putin on speed dial.

After he finally answers the phone, it takes hours of filler injections, spray tanning and hair arranging before Trump is even ready to get out of his luxurious bed, at which point he is informed they are “too late”.

A voiceover concludes that the ad was “paid for by Americans who are really starting to miss Obama.”

The video comes a year after The Simpsons parodied Trump's official candidacy announcement.

It was first believed that the clip had been created in the year 2000 and was an uncannily accurate prediction, but it later emerged that that wasn't the case.
