SBS is celebrating the holiday season with a curated mix of festive programming across SBS, On Demand, Food Network, and NITV.

With a mix of music, food, and movies, the festive season gives people the opportunity to come together and celebrate the many ways that we enjoy the holidays; from getting together to cook traditional family dishes, to parties with friends and loved-ones, to the beginning of summer.

SBS

Destination Flavour Christmas -16/12
In the one-hour special, host Adam Liaw calls on his SBS food pals to conjure up a colourful and culturally diverse Christmas menu. Watch as Luke Nguyen, Peter Kuruvita, Matthew Evans, Shane Delia and Gabriel Gaté get festive with their all-time favourites.

A Christmas Feast With Peter Kuruvita - 23/12
What does chef and TV host Peter Kuruvita whip up for Christmas? Fijian ceviche, whole grilled snapper wrapped in banana leaf, and a summery curd and treacle topped with shaved toasted coconut.

12 Drinks of Christmas - 23/12
From mulled wine and fizz, eggnog and sloe gin to brandy and Boxing Day hangover cures, Alexander and Giles together find 12 festive drinks that willensure their family’s Christmas is full of good cheer.

Brothers-in-law Alexander Armstrong and Giles Coren spend much of the festive season eating and drinking. Alexander is usually hosting and he likes to push the boat out, spoiling his guests with the finest booze he can find, but for Giles, a bottle (or four) of something cheaper would do just as well. In this one hour special they attempt to settle this controversy once and for all, by putting together their definitive Christmas selection pack. But theirs will not come in a net stocking with a cardboard Santa at the top. It will come in bottles.

Andre Rieu: Christmas Concert 2016 - 25/12
A 130 minute festive celebration, featuring a never before seen 90 minute recorded Christmas concert packed with all the favourites including Hallelujah, Jingle Bells, White Christmas & many more performed by André and his famous Johann Strauss Orchestra along with his sopranos and tenors.

Movie: Tuesday, After Christmas - 25/12
Paul Hanganu loves two women. Adriana his wife and the mother of their daughter, the woman with whom he's shared the thrills of the past ten years, and Raluca the woman who has made him redefine himself. He has to leave one of them before Christmas.

Food Network

Barefoot Contessa: Back to Basics – Holiday - 25/12

It's the week before the holidays and Ina Garten and her husband, Jeffrey, are on a getaway in the Berkshires with friends, kicking off the festive season with a great winter weekend of snowy food and fun. Then, on Christmas Eve back in East Hampton, Ina's throwing a fabulous Berkshires-inspired lunch for friends, and the holiday magic happens with a festive midnight feast for two.

Giada’s Holiday Handbook - 25/12

Giada De Laurentiis hosts a pre-Christmas party that focuses on the kids, but the grown-ups are invited too! Festivities focus around a kids' holiday sing-along and kid-friendly menu including Cheesy Chicken Flautas, Veggie Noodle Salad, Chocolate-Covered Chips and Apple Pie Soda a la Mode.

Holiday Baking Championship - 24-25/12
Nine new bakers put their skills to the test in holiday-themed challenges on the third season of this Bobby Deen-hosted competition series. The challenges aim to bring the essence of Christmas to life through tasks centered around cookies, pies and other desserts. Inspiration for the tests comes from the likes of classic seasonal beverages and ugly holiday sweaters.

NITV

This Christmas -25/10
This is the story of a solidly middle-class African-American family that reunites for Christmas for the first time in several years. Ma'dere (Loretta Devine) is the Matriarch who's Los Angeles home is where the vast majority of the story takes place. As with any family gathering there are topics that are best not discussed. When they are discussed here they end up in fights -verbal or physical (an excellent sister-on sister catfight stands out here). One sister is encouraging the siblings to sell the family dry cleaning business and split the profits. One brother is running from loan sharks. One brother is AWOL from the Marine Corps and one sister has brought along the man she's dating at a historically black college.

On Demand

In addition to being able to catch-up on all the festive programming, SBS On Demand will also offer a 'Festive Flicks Collection' featuring exclusives, such as the cult classic Santa Claus Conquers The Martians, Almost Christmas, and A Christmas Tale
