A large majority of Aussies welcomes cultural diversity: report

WorldRemit, an online money transfer service, this week launched its inaugural WorldRemit Cultural Diversity Outlook. The report's release coincided with the United Nations World Day for Cultural Diversity on Sunday May 21.Despite the Australian governments recent tightening of immigration controls, the research commissioned by WorldRemit reveals that Australians outlook towards migrants remains generally open and positive, with 60% saying cultural diversity is becoming more important than ever for Australia.Michael Liu is the Asia Pacific director of World Remit. Martin Kwakwa asked him to expand on the report and its contents.

More than four in five (83%) migrants living in Australia say they feel welcome in this country, and 94% express a desire to be part of the Australian community.
