Discover the stories and experiences of many local residents as you experience what it is like to flee your country and try to find safety.

The Refugee Camp in my Neighbourhood is set to run for 2 weeks at Auburn Centre for Community. The event features free tours that seek to provide a simulated learning environment where participants can experience the refugee journey, from the moment of fleeing a country to life in a refugee camp and the resettlement process.

Now in its third year, the event aims to educate participants about refugees and why they have come to Australia as well as help people to understand the many challenges refugees face on their journeys.

Participants will be taken on a journey of their own through the simulated camp by former refugees from various countries who will recount their own personal stories and bring to light some of the challenges and difficulties refugees face in coming to Australia.

The program focusses on the importance of welcoming refugees into the community and educating the wider public about the realities of life in refugee camps.
