Australia’s sheep flock to 100-year lows

Australia’s sheep numbers hit 100-year lows mainly due to widespread drought.

Australia has seen widespread drought, which has shrunk the national sheep flock to 100-year lows and threatens the viability of a A$3bn ($2bn) a year industry, according to the Financial Times.

The Financial Times says that the latest industry projections show the national flock was expected to have fallen to 65.3m animals at the end of that month, a decline of 3.7 per cent on June last year.
