COVID-19 cuts back crowds for New Year's Eve

Source: AAP

Citizens across the globe have cautiously marked the start of another year as coronavirus shows no signs of slowing down in its rapid spread. Many Australians celebrating the end of 2021 chose to steer clear of crowds while others joined outdoor parties, enjoying their freedoms.

The surge in coronavirus cases around the world hasn't stopped some revelers from taking the opportunity to go out and party late into the night.
A smaller crowd than in previous years watched an annual traditional fireworks display at Sydney Harbour.

The Paris fireworks display was canceled while only 15,000 spectators gathered in New York City's Times Square instead of the usual 58,000.
Serbia Unlike some other European cities where mass gatherings are restricted, celebrate events in Belgrade as usual.
