Korean community news in Sydney will be presented by the SBS Radio Korean Program on every Thursday. This week, the Korean program introduces a new emerging martial art in Australia called Danta.
Danta is created by Mr Ryoo Young Seol, a head master of Martial Art Collage of Sydney by utilising his years of experience of Hapkido, Tae Kon Do and other martial arts. Although Danta is a martial art which teaches trainees how to wield a short wooden stick named Dan Bong with extreme speed and accuracy, it has been also developed as a form of sports and games for young trainees. In particular, the fact that beginners learn how to use the stick by following a shape of Korean Alphabet, Hangeul, Danta became a great tool of leaning Korean for young children.
Lets find out more from a conversation with Mater Ryoo.
