Habitat loss due to land clearing prompts urgent calls to re-classify koalas as endangered

Australian conservation groups are renewing calls for koalas to be declared an endangered species, months after bushfires devastated the population and their habitat.


The plea to better protect one of the nation's most iconic animals comes as new research reveals a rapid rise in land clearing, further threatening their survival.
