Between the 8 and 11th of May The 23rd Congress of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration was held in Mauritius. The event attracted more than 800 international experts in arbitration, chief justices, lawyers and academics, corporate as well as government executives. This was the first ICCA congress to be held on African soil and it is hailed as a lauding success. It is widely believed that the Mauritian organisers achievement will have a tremendous impact that goes beyond the legal framework not only for Mauritius but for the entire African continent as well.
