For most people, winning a Cricket World Cup would be achievement enough to fulfill an entire lifetime. But for Imran Khan it was just the start of a massive rise, and then an equally massive fall.
In his professional sporting career Imran Khan won pretty much everything he could on the cricket calendar. He even led his team in conquering the World Cup on Australian soil in 1982. He was adored by millions of fans in Pakistan and around the world.
Then once his cricketing career was over, Khan decided to take on politics. Some might ask why?
The halo lasted for some time, with Kahn serving as Pakistan's Prime Minister from 2018 to 2022. But recent events in the Pakistani political landscape have seen him ousted as leader following a no-confidence vote in parliament.
Hear Imran Khan's story in episode three of Who's Your Don Bradman? with Christophe Mallet and Dario Castaldo, with production assistance from Afnan Malik and Zain Nabi.
New episodes of Who's Your Don Bradman? are released monthly, telling the stories of more inspiring sporting heroes idolised around the world but perhaps unknown here in Australia. Follow the podcast in Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts or the SBS Radio App.
