Saw Joseph is a Karen medic and relief worker from Free Burma Ranger who provides medical care for internally displaced people in Myanmar and those who are under attack by ISIS in Iraq and Syria.
He received the Padoh Mahn Sha Young Leader Award (2018) for his outstanding work. As a top medic in FBR, he originally provided medical care for internally displaced people in Karen State of Myanmar.
In 2015 he was chosen by the FBR to lead the medical care for people who are under attack by ISIS in Kurdistan of Northern Iraq. The FBR team also provided medical care for the people in Mosul and Syria.
Padoh Mahn Sha Young Leader Award is an annual award given by Phan Foundation, which was set up by the children of Padoh Mahn Sha Lah Phan, the late General Secretary of the Karen National Union (KNU) who was assassinated in February 14, 2008.
The Award was presented to Saw Joseph on 31st of January 2019.
