While temporary restrictions are applied to travellers arriving from any part of mainland China, there are no similar bans for people travelling to Australia from Italy. However SBS Italian has received news of people who were invited to apply a self-imposed quarantine.

The request did not however come from local authorities.

Stefano, who works for an Australia-based business, told us what happened to a specialised worker who arrived to Sydney on Monday, and was asked to remain in his hotel room for two weeks to avoid contact with other workers.
