Karen community in Bendigo, Victoria of Australia had launched a short film called, "We are Karen", aiming to increase understanding of the Karen people.
The event was held on September 14, Saturday at Bendigo Library and many people including Karen ethnic and local residents attended. The short film last for about 10 minutes.
Seisei Mu Thein, head of the Karen Organisation Bendigo said that Karen people started settling in Bendigo since 2007 and we were warmly welcome. However, there are some local residents that do not know about Karen people. That is why they released "We are Karen" short video so they will get to know and understand more about Karen people.
The video shows and talked about Karen people history and their journey to Bendigo, Australia. It also talked about Karen cultures and traditions.
The short film event was organized and supported by several groups including Victoria State Government, City of Greater Bendigo, Karen Organisation of Bendigo, Bendigo Neighbourhood Hub, Karen Culture Social Support Foundation and Bendigo Community Health Services as well as Bendigo Library.
Seisei Mu Thein also wants to thank everyone that participated in the making of this short film.
