In many families of Bangladeshi community both parents work. Then one of the things they have to worry about most is caring for the kids during work hours. It is expensive enough to keep children in the childcare facility. Many depend on the childcare subsidy provided by the government for this. Early Childhood Educator Mrs Asma Huda speaks to SBS Bangla about how this subsidy is working for them.
Asma Huda says childcare subsidy is very helpful for her family.
As her children going to school and she needs only 20 hours her allowance of 75 hours is redundant. But she has to pay 15% charge which is expensive for her. Some parents need more hours as they need full time childcare. This subsidy would be appropriate for them.
It'd be beneficial for parents like Asma if they get less hours but more on percentage of from the government.
"So, the need really depends on individual circumstances", says Asma Huda.
