Myanmar artist awarded for Melbourne’s Art Tram Project

Myanmar artist and designer Dr Nyein Chan Aung has been awarded for his The Late Supper artwork.

It is reimagines Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper with people enjoying a meal at Supper Inn Chinese restaurant.

According to Victoria’s premier website, the Chinese restaurant has “stood proud as a Melbourne dining institution for more than 40 years”.

The Art Trams project is part of the Melbourne International Arts Festival’s visual arts program and all the Victorian artists are invited to submit their designs. 

Dr Nyein Chan Aung’s designs are printed on eight trams and the Art Trams will be on track until August 2020.  Listen to the interview now.
