New advocacy group formed to fight racism & bigotry

Democracy in Colour founder Tim Lo Sundro

Democracy in Colour, a new lobby and advocacy group for people of colour, has been inaugurated in cities across Australia in the past few weeks. Tim Lo Sundro of Italian Chinese descent says the creation of the group stems from his personal experience being taunted and discriminated against because of the colour of his skin as well as his ethnicity.Bertrand Tungandame spoke with Mr Sundro at the inauguration of the group in Melbourne.

The group's leaders lament the rise of racism in the political discourse that has "weaponised" colour differences and fostered the rise of divisive figures like One Nation Party leader Pauline Hanson.
