Plight of Uganda's homosexuals features at film festival

The 10th Human Rights Arts & Film Festival - or HRAFF - launched the complete program for its 2017 edition in Melbourne last week. The festival runs from 4 - 18 of May and then tours to Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane, Perth and Hobart until late June. One of the films to be shown at the Melbourne leg of the festival is titled The Pearl of Africa, directed by Johnny von Wallstrom. Lauren Valmadray is program director at this years HRAFF. Martin Kwakwa spoke with her. 

"The Pearl of Africa" is an exceptional document of what it means for one courageous transgender woman to live in Uganda in the face of anti-homosexuality laws.
