Winter in Helsinki

Timo Uotila's current affairs report from a Wintery Finland 16.1.19

In his speech the president could not avoid mentioning   immigration - some asylum seekers have brought with them insecurity to Finland. The president pointed out that one should not condemn  whole ethnic groups because of this.

Some EU countries have agreed to take refugees that have been rescued from the sea but who have not been accepted by the Mediterranean countries. Finland is not agreeing to new quotas before the earlier quotas have been fulfilled.

The economy is slow and a rise in interest rates is not expected, inflation in extremely low and the boom in real estate is over.
