"Reawakening": how did a Chinese-Australian pop artist lose her mother tongue?

Rainbow Chan is a Chinese-Australian experimental pop artist who works across music, performance and installation.

Chan's music is known for catchy melodies and off-kilter beats and her Chinese heritage has strongly influenced her work visually and aesthetically. But for a long time, she was struggling with two languages and cultures.

SBS Mandarin spoke to Rainbow Chan about her music, being in-between and the cultural "reawakening" she had in her early 20s.
