She escaped being married off at 10 , and Chido Govera is aiming for the stars

Chido Govera is a young woman from Zimbabwe. Her first name Chido, in her native language of Shona, means 'passion'. She grew up an orphan, and turned into a parent at the age of seven, taking on the role of a mother to her brother and caring for her nearly blind and elderly grandmother.At the age of eight, she had already experienced the worst possible abuse, inflicted by close family. Her passion of helping the vulnerable in society led her to set up a foundation to realise her goals.Chido is is Australia for a series of events. She spoke with Martin Kwakwa.  

She promised herself then that when she was older, she would save and protect other orphans from experiencing what she, and so many others, had suffered.
