Six Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from remote and regional communities working in the cultural, creative and heritage sectors have been offered placements with the National Museum and with partner cultural institutions in Canberra, Sydney and the United Kingdom.

Encounters Fellowship Manager, Carly Davenport Acker, says one of the goals of the program is to assist in providing the selected participants with the skills to drive their project.

The 6 recipients are from Western Australia, Queensland, New South Wales, the Torres Strait Islands and the Australian Capital Territory and include historians, curators, cultural heritage practitioners, artists and program managers.
