Sudden surge in COVID-19 cases in Victoria blamed on illegal grand final

Victorian authorities have suggested illegal gatherings over the AFL grand final long weekend may have contributed to Thursday's steep jump in COVID-19 cases up to 1438, mark another daily record for the state.

  • Victorian authorities blaming illegal gatherings over the AFL grand final long weekend may have contributed to increase COVID-19 cases in the state
  • Stay-at-home orders in some regional parts of New South Wales are being extended until October 11th because of the ongoing coronavirus risk.
  • Canberrans are being urged to bring forward vaccine bookings as their COVID-19 outbreak worsens.
  • from Thursday 30 Sep, stage two restrictions will apply for a fortnight including limits for home visitors in Queensland.
