Tasman Keith, Bowraville & "My Pelopolees"

Australian Hip hop artist, Tasman Keith's latest single "Might Snap" explores culture, stereotypes and willpower.

Tasman Keith is a mission boy who was raised between bustling inner city Sydney and the humble Bowraville Mission in the Nambucca Valley, northern New South Wales. An ode to his Uncle Spits, and grandfather Billy Jack, My Pelopolees reflects the strength of Tasman Keith’s ancestry, his community and the role of hip-hop intertwining. Keith references the interconnectedness between the future and past, wields his personal triumph to motivate other Indigenous people, and – inspired by artists like Outkast bringing southern slang into hip-hop – he incorporates ‘mission slang’ out if his home town in Bowraville.Tasman proudly represents the legacy of the Gumbaynggirr Nation and Aboriginal Hip Hop. Truly epitomising everything that is dope about the newest generation of these cultures, he is the son of seminal Australian Hip Hop pioneer Wire MC. Tasman works hard to ensure he lives up to his pedigree.
