The Federal Government has put in place a permanent nation-wide firearms amnesty

Australians can now hand in unregistered or unwanted firearms to the police at any time, without the fear of receiving a penalty. The Federal Government has implemented a permanent nationwide firearms amnesty, in the hope that it will keep communities safe from weapons that could be acquired by someone dangerous. Assistant Minister for Customs, Community Safety and Multicultural Affairs, Jason Wood, says the move is important.
