The US Secretary of State has begun a visit to east Africa by pushing for the deployment of a regional peacekeeping force to South Sudan. John Kerry has warned United States humanitarian aid might evaporate if leaders didn't move to end what he called a dire situation. Helen Isbister reports.

The deteriorating humanitarian situation in the world's youngest nation, South Sudan, was a key focus of talks in Kenya between US Secretary of State, John Kerry, and regional foreign leaders.
