A suspect in China has been caught by a camera using facial recognition technique from a crowd of 60,000 people!
In what might seem like a scene straight out of a movie, a suspect in China was caught by a CCTV Camera among a crowd of 60,000 people using facial recognition technique. This technology is used by the Chinese police.
The name of the suspect who is allegedly wanted for 'economic crimes' hasn't been released and he is for now only being identified as Mr Ao. Mr Ao was caught while attending a concert by pop singer Jacky Cheung in Nanchang from among a crowd of 60,000 people.
The BBC reports that China is a world leader in facial recognition technology and already has an estimated 170 million CCTV Cameras installed with 400 million more to come in the next three years.
Only time will tell to what extent AI will be used for surveillance in the future.
