Seema Keezhil has been an unsung hero for all things Indian for almost 30 years.
On Tuesday 22 March 2016, over 400 people attended a celebration of South Australia's cultural diversity which included the presentation of the 2015 Governor's Multicultural Awards.
The event was hosted by His Excellency, the Honourable Hieu Van Le AO, Governor of South Australia, in the grounds of Government House.
Of the 28 finalists recognised, Seema Keezhil was awarded for the Community Sector (individual and organisation) award category.
South Australia Governor’s 2015 Multicultural Award celebrate people who promote multiculturalism and increase understanding of the benefits of cultural diversity in SA community.
Seema Keezhil’s activities cover the gamut from organising festivals, teaching Hindi, collaborating on crime prevention with the SA Police to Bollywood singing!
Seema is also a recent addition to the Governor’s Women’s Honour roll.
All nominees and their nominators were acknowledged and congratulated for their work in promoting the benefits of cultural diversity, social harmony and inclusiveness in our South Australian community.
The Governor's Multicultural Awards are administered by Multicultural SA and presented by the Governor of South Australia, on the advice of an independent judging panel chosen in consultation with the Multicultural Communities Council of SA.
