Despite the fact, the Indian citizens are the top receivers of temporary skilled visas, migration agent Rohit Mohan says the numbers are a little low.

“The data from the first six months of the financial year 2020-21 indicates that around 22% of total temporary skilled visas were granted to Indian citizens," he said.

"This figure is low compared to the last financial year 2019-20, where the percentage of Indian applicants who were granted temporary resident skilled visas was 24%.

“However, it is quite high compared to UK citizens who contributed 16% and China, which contributed only 3% of total temporary skilled visas in the first six months of the financial year 2020-21. The percentage is particularly high in Victoria and New South Wales where the proportion of Indian citizens were 29% and 26% respectively. This reflects the preference of Indian migrants towards these two states.
