How well do you think you know Australia's political system and Australian values?

Every year, thousands of permanent residents take Australia's computer-based citizenship test.

The test ensures immigrants have a basic knowledge of -

  • the English language,
  • an adequate knowledge of Australia,
  • an adequate knowledge of the responsibilities and privileges of citizenship, and
  • an understanding of the nature of their application.

The test basically asks questions about Australia’s political system and values.

It is a compulsory requirement for most people who apply for citizenship in Australia.

Some are exempt from sitting the test, including people younger than 18 and older than 60 years of age and people who have impaired vision or hearing.

How well do you think you know Australia's political system and Australian values?

You just need to answer 15 questions correctly (ie 75 per cent) to pass the citizenship test.
