This multicultural school will not only try to inculcate academic learning but also spiritual and physical excellence.

The first Sikh school in Australia will be built in Rouse Hill, New South Wales.

The construction is likely to start within three months.

If everything progresses as planned then the building would be complete by 2017.

The school will open for admission for primary school children in 2018.

The school will also have a Sikh temple and hostel.

Kuldeep Singh, spokesman for the committee behind the project told the Daily Telegraph, this is going to be the first dedicated Indian school in the country.

According to the school’s website, there are 19 Jewish, 39 Islamic and 1700 Christian schools in Australia.

The committee is still waiting for Education Department’s approval.

Recently, the Riverstone state Liberal MP Kevin Conolly launched a website and You Tube channel featuring the school.

They plan to start with primary but then starts classes till Year 12.

“We will have classes in Punjabi language and other Indian languages with plans to also introduce international languages if there is a demand,” said Mr Kuldeep Singh.

This first of its kind school in Australia will be a community-owned one.
