Italian-American actress and director Isabella Rossellini will be preside over the Jury for the 61st Berlin International Film Festival.

Perhaps best known for her breakthrough performance as a masochistic chanteuse in David Lynch's Blue Velvet, Rosselini's on-screen credits include roles in the films of Paolo and Vittorio Taviani, Norman Mailer, Robert Zemeckis, Joel Schumacher, John Schlesinger, Peter Weir, Abel Ferrara, Stanley Tucci, Guy Maddin, Peter Greenaway and Vincente Minelli (for whose A Matter of Time, she paired with her mother, Ingrid Bergman).

"It's fantastic that Isabella Rossellini will be the President of the Berlinale Jury in 2011," says the festival's director Dieter Kosslick. "She is a multifaceted, creative film artist with extensive experience in European, American and international cinema."

Rosselini's recent screen excursions include directing the playful edisodic shorts Green Porno, about the secret sex lives of bugs. She presented the series at the 2008 Berlin Film Festival and has since directed a follow-up series, Seduce Me (pictured).

As president of the 2011 Berlinale jury, Rossellini will oversee the presentation of the main prize, the Golden Bear for best film.

The Berlin Film Festival runs from February 10-20, 2011.
