Portuguese director Miguel Gomes will be honoured in the Waves section of the 30th Turin Film Festival, which will be taking place from 23 November to 1 December 2012. A revelation during Berlinale 2012 with Tabu (Alfred Bauer Award and FIPRESCI Award), Gomes is considered one of the most promising contemporary Lusitanian directors. His films present a surreal reality, where characters are a trapped between adulthood and childhood, and where the narrator oscillates between documentary and fiction, picturesque rigour and vintage taste.

The young director (born in 1972) will be in Turin to present his entire masterpiece, from short films (Entretanto, 1999, his debut work; Inventário de Natal, 2000; Kalkitos, 2002; 31, 2003; Cántico das criaturas, 2006) to feature films A cara que mereces (2004) and Aquele querido mês de Agosto (2008, presented during the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs in Cannes), to the most recent Tabu (2012), which will be distributed in Italy by Satine Film - Archibald.
