The release of Jake Gyllenhaal and Josh Brolin's upcoming adventure movie Everest has been postponed by seven months.

The mountain thriller, about the tragic 1996 Mount Everest disaster that claimed the lives of eight climbers, had originally been scheduled to hit US movie theatres in February 2015.

But studio executives at Universal have now pushed it back until September.

Gyllenhaal plays the role of American climber and guide Scott Fisher, who was among those killed in the disaster.
