LOS ANGELES (Variety.com) - Joni Mitchell revealed that she shook off the possibility of having Taylor Swift portray her in biopic "Girls Like Us," according to an interview with the Sunday Times.

"I squelched that," Mitchell told the newspaper. "I said to the producer, 'All you've got is a girl with high cheekbones.' It's just a lot of gossip, you don't have the great scenes."

"Girls Like Us" was the would-be film adaptation of Sheila Weller's book of the same name that examines the lives and music of Mitchell, Carly Simon and Carole King. Mitchell also commented on the Weller book itself, having nixed the biopic.

"There's a lot of nonsense about me in books. . .assumptions, assumptions, assumptions," she said.

Variety reported that Swift was circling the role in April 2012. Allison Pill ("Midnight in Paris") was reportedly in talks to play Simon at the time. Swift said in October 2012 that she was eager to play the role, but it had not been confirmed yet.

Swift has since appeared in "The Giver," another book-to-film adaptation.
