LOS ANGELES (Variety.com) - The Homeland star will play Ryan Reynolds' love interest in the upcoming Deadpool adaptation.

LOS ANGELES (Variety.com) - "Homeland" star Morena Baccarin will star opposite Ryan Reynolds in Fox-Marvel's "Deadpool."

Baccarin will portray the love interest for the titular character, an assassin with a scarred face who acquires superpowers while seeking a cure for his cancer. Gina Carano is also set to star as Angel Dust.

Tim Miller is directing from a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Simon Kinberg is producing with Lauren Shuler Donner, with Fox planning a March start in Vancouver.

Baccarin will appear in Paul Feig's upcoming "Spy" opposite Melissa McCarthy. Her TV credits include "Gotham" and "Homeland."

She's repped by UTA, Seven Summits Pictures & Management and Jackoway Tyerman.
