The new trailer for Angelina Jolie Pitt and Brad Pitt's marriage drama By the Sea starts off on a quiet note before taking a violent turn.

The on and off-screen couple kicks, pushes, screams and cries in the teaser released by Universal Pictures on Friday.

Written, directed and produced by Jolie Pitt, the film, set in the 1970s, follows an American writer (Pitt) and his wife (Jolie Pitt), who are vacationing at a French seaside resort as their marriage is crumbling. When they're not fighting like cats and dogs, the two drown their sorrows with bottles of booze and prescription drugs.

The film also stars Melanie Laurent, Niels Arestrup, Melvil Poupaud and Richard Bohringer.

By the Sea world premieres and opens the AFI Fest on November 5, a week before its U.S. release. The film's Australian release date is November 26 through Universal.
