A group of friends go camping in the woods, only to discover they're not alone. So far, it sounds like a pretty familiar horror movie plot, right?
But the trailer for The Woods has just been released, and it's got horror fans all in a lather.
While the plot is shrouded in mystery, the teaser trailer features a haunting rendition of The Police's "Every Breath You Take" and a very sinister atmosphere.
The film's camcorder style resembles The Blair Witch Project (1999), and the advance word of mouth has only added to the buzz, with horror website Bloody Disgusting calling it "one of the scariest movies ever made" and Time Out New York's Joshua Rothkopf declaring "You may think you're ready for The Woods, but you're not".
Featuring a relatively unknown cast, including James Allen McCune, Callie Hernandez, Brandon Scott, Valorie Curry, Corbin Reid, and Wes Robinson, the Lionsgate release is the latest offering from director Adam Wingard, who made action thriller The Guest and slasher flick You're Next.
Wingard has confirmed it's a found footage movie, and he's calling it the scariest film he's ever made.
You'll have to wait until later this year to find out for yourself. The Woods is due for release in the US on September 16.
