While the Marvel universe is replacing female characters with men so they can heighten their toy sales, the DC Universe is in talks to make an entirely female led superhero movie.

Director reveals Marvel rejected key female character because it'd hurt toy sales
A frustrated 'Iron Man 3' director Shane Black has revealed the character of Killian was meant to be a woman, but corporate had refused.

Our very own Aussie villain, Margot Robbie plays Harley Quinn in the upcoming Suicide Squad. Months before the movie has even hit our screens, The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that there’s a Harley Quinn movie in the works at Warner Brothers.

While the movie is apparently a spin-off from the anti-heroine’s character Quinn, it’s also going to focus on a bunch of DC’s female heroes and villains with names like Batgirl and Birds of Prey floating around.

There has been no comment from Warner Bros. about the project and all details are being fiercely protected. The Hollywood publication also reports that apparently there is a female writer currently penning the script, but everyone in the know is keeping tight-lipped about any information.

There is a plethora of strong female heroines and villainesses in the DC Universe who many would love to see on the big screen together.

People have taken to social media to voice their hope that the female led movie will involve lesbian love.

Others have taken to social media to voice their pride in DC for giving a space to women and to show their utter excitement about the possible future project.

Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that when Robbie landed the part of Harley Quinn, she dove deep into the comics so she could learn as much as possible. While learning about her character, she fell in love with the other female characters in DC's Universe and brought on a writer to help her begin the project.

Although everyone is keeping tight-lipped, hopefully all the talk is true.
