Emily Blunt is front and centre in Universal's new trailer for the mystery The Girl on the Train, as her character's post-divorce life slowly disintegrates.

The trailer starts with her character Rachel talking about how she had watched a perfect couple from the train -- "They were the embodiment of true love."

It ends with her being questioned by Allison Janney's detective character about whether she committed a murder of her ex-husband's nanny, Megan Hipwell (played by Haley Bennett).

The trailer makes no effort to resolve the mystery. It introduces Justin Theroux who stars as Rachel's ex-husband.

Luke Evans plays Megan's husband. The new trailer is set to Kanye West's 'Heartless'.

The Girl on the Train, adapted from Paula Hawkins' best-seller and directed by Tate Taylor, hits Australian theatres on Oct. 6.
