LOS ANGELES (Variety.com) - Maven Pictures is developing fashion drama The Ripper about the tumultuous relationship between designer Alexander McQueen and editor Isabella Blow, Variety has learned.

Gesha-Marie Bland has written the script for The Ripper. Senior VP Hardy Justice found the screenplay for Maven.

McQueen was named British designer of the year four times while Blow is often considered his muse and famed for her unconventional looks and approach to style. McQueen came from a working class background while Blow had aristocratic roots and worked for Vogue and was style editor of London's Sunday Times and fashion director of Tatler.

Blow died at the age of 48 in 2008 and McQueen died in 2010.

Bland was recently chosen for the 2016 Women in Film/Black List Episodic Lab and was a multiple finalist in the BlueCat, American Zoetrope and Screencraft competitions. She is currently adapting her original script Selznick's Folly into a miniseries with First Generation Films.

Maven, co-founded by partners Celine Rattray and Trudie Styler, has producing credits on James McAvoy's Filth and Shia LaBeouf's American Honey, which won the jury prize at this year's Cannes Film Festival. Styler's directorial debut, Freak Show, which stars Alex Lawther, Bette Midler, AnnaSophia Robb and Laverne Cox, is in post-production.

Maven is also developing Steve Martin's An Object of Beauty with Amy Adams starring and producing. Mike Goldbach recently came on board to rewrite Ned Benson's script.
